We recently launched a competition to win a set of cloth face masks by encouraging ‘poets’ across hospitality to send a smile to the industry. We asked mask wearers to encourage their peers to do the same, protecting colleagues and customers from the further spread of Covid-19 by creating a poem.
We are delighted with the response to date and thought we would share a few entries to highlight the quality of entries that are shining through.
The first is from Sharon Barcock, Director of Spa & Fitness Operations & Development MEA at Hilton Worldwide.
“Filling the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality, we protect ourselves and our guests for travel continuity.
“We must follow the rules and never abuse, as PPE serves to protect and is here for our use.
“Put on your face mask and wear it with pride, it will still allow your personality to shine.
“Our guests as well should all wear their mask, and remember this really shouldn’t be a hard task.
“And if we all behave, then we all stay safe”
The second is from Jacki Walker, CEO, Equipline.
“Is a Mask a Mask?
“Or a Political Declaration?
“If it’s just a Mask, why not wear one to save humanity from devastation?
“It’s just a Mask.
“Wear one.”
The third is from Sylvia De Havilland, Restaurant Manager, McDonald’s.
“A smile is priceless and speaks out loud.
“Being in the smile business makes us all proud.
“Hospitality folk trade in the smile game, making guests smile is our aim.
“So please don your mask and wear it with pride.
“We aren’t done yet, so please feel safe to smile again.”
So, a BIG thank you to Sylvia, Jacki and Sharon for their super poems.
Please join our poets and tell your industry that we can all keep smiling and continue to make others do the same.
All you have to do is compose a few lines, as many or as few as you like, and send them into us using the form below. We will publish all entries and attribute them to the author so that in this time of worry for most, some smiles can be created and shared.
Three winners will be picked by our competition sponsor, Fashionizer, who will then send each winner a prize of ten cloth face masks.
Each cloth mask is made for comfort, style and safety, based on World Health Organisation recommendations, with a nose wire to ensure good fit and to assist with fit when wearing glasses. With various styles, colours and sizes in stock, there is a mask for everyone in hospitality.
The competition closes on September 30th and winners will be contacted by email on 1st October 2020. The judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into once winners are selected and awarded their prizes.
