Dark Kitchens adapting to temporary foodservice

By James Russell: Dark Kitchens adapting to temporary foodservice

September 3, 2020

With so many restaurants moving to delivery, Dark Kitchens also known as Ghost Kitchens and Cloud Kitchens continue to thrive as a solution to growing demand on food delivery services. They are also a wider solution to wider change.

Covid-19 has brought many changes and seen hospitality adapt to meet new market conditions, Dark Kitchens have grown to meet that demand.

The concept is not new as airline foodservice has depended upon it for decades, what is new is the adoption by restaurateurs and wider hospitality providers.

Dark Kitchens are a temporary solution for many hospitality businesses as their service offering and provision has changed. For many, operating from a kitchen designed for ‘traditionally’ covering diners seated and served pre-Covid is just not possible.

As hospitality changes and adjusts to constantly evolving requirements the advantages of a Dark Kitchen enables operators to adapt to meet them.

When looking at fast changing ‘temporary’ requirements many operators will be contemplating a vast amount of considerations, mostly focused on input and output, especially financial ones.

So, when most things in hospitality and catering seem temporary, having specialised in temporary kitchens for over 30 years, we can lean on that experience and help.

We pride ourselves on delivering projects across the hospitality industry, from small independents to the London Olympic Games 2012. We are also proud of testimonials that emphasise our values and credentials having worked with many of the most respected names in our industry.

“We found Onsite Kitchen Rentals to be incredibly professional, wonderfully helpful during their whole time at The Hand and Flowers whilst we were refurbing our permanent kitchen. The equipment provided was first rate and allowed us to continue our normal operation whilst the works were ongoing.”
