Despite reports of drunken louts being out and about on Saturday the vast majority of the country got back to enjoying hospitality in a civilised fashion, the same as every Saturday up and down the land.
Unfortunately, there will always be people who cannot enjoy themselves unless they are close to alcoholic oblivion and mindless of all others while in that state. But we can’t expect Covid-19 to eradicate that social problem.
Fortunately, millions of people did venture out to their local restaurants and pubs and respecting the efforts of proprietors and their fellow diners and drinkers, simply enjoyed themselves.
In summary, not normal, but some semblance of normality came back, and for most it was a celebration and a time to enjoy life that little bit more once again.
For hospitality businesses it was a first step forward in months, being open to able to welcome guests back to enjoy some hospitality. A step that was a huge success, and one that can now be built on.
