At the beginning of June we launched a competition for suppliers in hospitality to win a share of £50,000 marketing spend.
We have reported widely throughout the pandemic on the detrimental effect Covid-19 has had on restaurants, hotels, caterers, pubs & bars, and all hospitality providers. The suppliers to those venues have largely suffered in the background at the same time, being far less widely reported.
So, we held the competition to try and help suppliers in hospitality add to their marketing firepower to combat Covid-19 in the year ahead.
Entrants submitted a marketing plan explaining how they would use the first prize of £20,000 in marketing spend if they won.
The entries were then scrutinised and assessed by seven independent judges, and we are delighted to announce the results below.

We are delighted to report that the judges were rightly impressed with all entries, first and foremost for making time to enter and compose their plans. Secondly for having made such effort to demonstrate their understanding of marketing to the hospitality industry across its many segments.
At the end of the judging process Christopher Moore, CEO The Clink Charity said: “It was an honour to be asked to be a judge for H&C News. The competition was tough with all entries being of a very high standard. They are all winners but many congratulations to Stampede.”
Paul Anderson, MD of Meiko UK, a brand recognised all over the world and built on foundations of product and marketing excellence said: “Great work conducted to present individual cases and their specific focused applications, a truly great job by all and a pleasure to judge.
Paul’s colleague and Marketing Manager at Meiko UK, Mark Roberts was similarly impressed by the entries saying: “Extremely well presented plans from all entrants with some great media activity ideas on how they plan to bounce back from the current Covid-19 situation, well done to everyone who entered.”
From H&C News’ perspective our objective for the competition was to provide an opportunity for the winners to take their marketing message to our readership. The quality of the winning plans was very high indeed and the winner from Stampede was exemplary. We look forward to working with all the winners in the year ahead and reporting on their successes.
We would like to say “Thank You” to all the judges, over many years and now once again, we know we can trust and rely on your sound counsel.
