McDonald’s have released details of worldwide financial performance during the COVID-19 crisis. Strong digital reach and delivery systems are credited by McDonald’s leading to optimistic sentiment in its strategy to deal with the impact from Covid-19 globally.
With about 95% of McDonald’s restaurants now operational across the world, sequential improvement in comparable sales is being seen.
In April during the height of the crisis, comparable sales in the US and the rest of the world were down 19.2% and 66.7%, respectively. To the end of May, this declined to 5.1% and 40.5%.
In a bid to combat closures and initiate more reopenings McDonald’s continues to follow regulatory guidelines ensuring the good health and safety of its customers and employees.
Currently over 1,000 US restaurants have reopened, achieved in part by limited seating capacity observing social distancing.
