Leading UK discovery website DesignMyNight has reported an exceptional response to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement that hospitality venues will be able to reopen from 4th July, subject to certain safety measures being in place.
Katie Kirwan, Head of Content at DesignMyNight commented “Immediately after the Prime Minister made the announcement in the House of Commons, there was a surge of visitors to the DesignMyNight website, with 190 people per second searching for somewhere to go as lockdown is relaxed. This is 475% higher than the recent volume of traffic to the site during lockdown.
“Momentum is clearly building, as hundreds of venues are now using the new DesignMyNight traffic light system, recently introduced to show if a venue is open for guests or still closed. We all suspected that people were desperate to return to meeting friends and loved ones in their favourite bars and restaurants, but the level of this response today has taken us all by surprise. When opening plans are confirmed, I would urge every operator to get them listed as the figures show there is a huge demand for a great out of home experience.”
