France has announced further easing of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, setting celebrations in motion across the French hospitality industry.
Restaurants and bars have been allowed to reopen, with only Paris still seeing restrictions.
Parisian bars and eateries will only be allowed to serve diners in outside areas.
All restaurants, cafes, and bars reopening must do so with restrictions starting next week. All foodservice staff must wear masks, as well as customers.
Social distancing measures now are that a distance of a metre between tables has to be in place with a maximum of 10 people at any one table. All social gatherings are still restricted to no more than 10 people.
France reopens hospitality – extra safety measures
As French hospitality looks to resume some eateries are taking extra safety measures and experimenting with ideas. Perspex bubbles for diners to sit under while eating is one, we don’t think this will catch on.
France has adopted zoning categories to reflect the levels of danger from infection. Paris is designated an ‘orange zone’ which translates to Covid-19 remaining high risk. Most of the rest of the country has been designated as ‘green zone’ being lower risk.
City parks in Paris will reopen, partly due to pressure from a campaign by residents and spearheaded by the city mayor. From 2 June museums and national monuments will reopen, although foodservice provision at both remain unclear.
As Europe looks to recapture tourism with many states looking at opening borders and airports, Orly airport Paris will resume operations on 26 June. The scale of operations has not been detailed yet.
