Caffè Nero has this morning announced 33 of its outlets will re-open by the end of next week.
The reopening is part of its ‘takeaway only’ trial. We understand that 14 of the openings will be achieved this week, taking the open total to 40.
The additional openings follow the successful initial trial of seven stores last week.
Trials included clear protocols to ensure employees and customers were kept safe as well as a limited menu offering.
All store teams working in these stores are volunteers, who have requested to go back to work.
All Caffè Nero stores will continue to offer free coffee and hot drinks to all NHS staff until the end of May to say thank you and honour the extraordinary work they are doing.
Gerry Ford, Founder and Group CEO, said: “The success of our initial trial has given us confidence we can operate our stores for takeaway while prioritising the safety of our people and customers.
“Opening an additional 33 stores follows the guidance we have received from the government, and the people who have volunteered to work in our stores are doing so because they want to support their communities”.
The 14 additional stores opening this week are: Berkhamsted – St Albans – Epping – Fulham Broadway – Welwyn Garden City – Rickmansworth – Chesham – Golders Green – North Finchley -High Road Sheen East – Finchley – Hertford – Weybridge and Harpenden.
