Christie’s Wine & Spirits Online sales from March 24 to April 7 totalled $1,116,075 with 84% sold by lot and 91% sold by value. The sale received considerable global participation with bidders represented across 31 countries and five continents.
Additionally, the sale had an unprecedented amount of online engagement across a global spread of 118 countries with a 20% increase of unique visitors compared to previous online wine sales.
The top lot was a full case of Petrus 1990, which realized $40,000.
Californian wines performed well with exceptional results including a selection from the Harlan estate in bottle and magnum, which was 100% sold, and strong prices realized for Promontory, Opus One, Insignia, Dominus, Ridge, Bond, Araujo, Spottswoode.
Bordeaux First Growths also received considerable attention. From ample selections of Mouton and Margaux, to a case of Château Lafite-Rothschild 2002, which sold for $7,500.
The sale was rounded out with excellent bottles from Rhône, Italy, Champagne, and Portugal, and finished with Scotch and Bourbon whiskies fetching impressive prices including a bottle of Macallan, 31 Year Old 1970, in its original wooden case that sold for $13,750.
