Park Regis’ ‘putting back’ partnership with University College Birmingham

By James Russell: Park Regis’ ‘putting back’ partnership with University College Birmingham

March 10, 2020

Park Regis Birmingham has announced a new partnership with University College Birmingham, designed to help students enter into and succeed in the hospitality Industry.

Park Regis will provide students on further education courses at the University’s Business School with expert insight and experience in a large International Hotel, the students will have a unique insight into how hotels operate that will benefit them for their future.

Four members of the Park Regis Executive Team and the Managing Director will teach students on a monthly basis at Park Regis. The monthly training sessions are led by at least one of the Senior Managers with subjects ranging from Customer Service to Managing an Event.  The main benefit for students is the access to Park Regis managers with years of experience, providing students with their time.

“It is key to stress that this is the Park Regis team putting something back into the community where a number of them trained. We have all been to Catering College/University and feel that if we can provide support for the managers of the future then that is a great use of our time.

“The programme is set entirely for that goal and not for the benefit of Park Regis.  We have some of the best managers in the country in our team. When I was a student, I would have loved to have the exposure to a hotel like Park Regis and the team.”  says John Angus, Managing Director at Park Regis.

University College Birmingham is a long-established and highly respected provider of vocational education and training. Based in the heart of Birmingham, the University offers a range of career-focused courses in both higher and further education as well as a growing portfolio of apprenticeships, with many courses accredited by the University of Birmingham.

“This is a fantastic educational partnership which will help bring our curriculum to life, exposing our students to real working environments and insight from industry specialists at Park Regis. It is a great opportunity for our students to have the breadth and depth of expertise available at Park Regis which they can tap into.

“A number of our past students have previously been recruited by Park Regis, and by developing such strong industry links, there is great potential for our students to benefit both in their education as well as possible employment options when they complete their studies,” says Dilshad Sheikh, Dean of Business School.
