Umbrella Training, the leading nationwide training and apprenticeship provider for the hospitality sector, has announced plans to host a ‘gifting’ event that will help bring together large and small businesses with the aim of maximising Government levy transfer opportunities.
Taking place during National Apprenticeship Week, an audience of SMEs and levy paying employers within the hospitality sector and beyond will be brought together to discuss how the apprenticeship levy transfer works.
Held in partnership with new not-for-profit initiative the London Progression Collaboration, the levy gifting event is in direct response to the skills crisis in the capital that sees many people trapped in low-skilled and low productivity employment.
Many employers are finding it hard to spend their apprenticeship levy, with large amounts going unspent in London. Apprenticeship levy transfers can unlock the opportunity of apprenticeships, and help employers build capacity for the sector.
Umbrella Training CEO Adele C Oxberry FIHAdele Oxberry, founder, Umbrella Training, said: “As a small business, we completely understand the needs of SMEs in the hospitality sector.
“This event is aimed at bringing together our business partners – ranging from large levy paying employers and our SME hospitality community – with a view to working together and implementing meaningful apprenticeship programmes without the need to pay a co- contribution.
“Many leading and large employers are proving that corporate social responsibility is a huge part of their people strategy and allows for a wider community to receive these funds without impacting on their purse.
“We are proud to be able to offer this to London businesses with the Greater London Authority and London Progression Collaboration, and believe this is the start of something wonderful with partnerships at the forefront.”
The event will be held on 7 February 2020 at London’s City Hall.
