Plans have been approved for EventCity to build a brand new, state-of-the-art events venue in Manchester’s TraffordCity. The new events venue will enable Manchester to host more conferences, exhibitions, gala dinners and meetings through a multi-million pound investment by its owners, Peel L&P.
The location in Manchester, the UK’s second largest city, sets event organisers a palate to plan events like conferences and exhibitions with many advantages including logistics for visitors to future events. Securing the former Soccerdome site, the new address will bring the venue even closer to existing hotels and leisure within TraffordCity.
The location also allows for free parking alongside excellent road and public transport access.
The Metrolink, due to open in TraffordCity Spring 2020, will be just a seven minute walk from the new EventCity location.
The location is also very convenient for international visitors travelling by air, being close to both Manchester’s City Airport and only a 15 minute drive to Manchester Airport.
Talking on the approval, Neil Lees, Acting Chief Executive at EventCity and Deputy Chairman of the Peel Group said: “We’re thrilled to have gained approval so work can commence on the new EventCity. The venue will be a fantastic addition to the TraffordCity offering, creating even more reasons for people to visit and experience the ever-evolving area.”
With the doors to the new venue set to open in Spring 2021, the current EventCity will remain in operation until then. Work will commence at the new site immediately, with EventCity and Peel L&P entering a new, long-term lease of 25 years.
