The Purple Umbrella Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the nation’s finest hospitality apprentice talent and recognise those who have demonstrated excellent dedication to their company and achieved fantastic feats in the workplace. The apprenticeship awards include a number of different categories for current and past Umbrella Training apprentices, as well as the Apprentice of the Year.
Marketing assistant at Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa, Amelia Shaw, is an apprentice that has been shortlisted for one of the UK’s leading apprenticeship awards, a Purple Umbrella Apprenticeship Award, at at the Savoy Hotel, London, Friday 6 March 2020.
Amelia has been at Luton Hoo since January 2017. She started out as a Level 2 Business Administration apprentice, before completing a Level 3 course. After finishing her second apprenticeship, General Manager Matthew Long, created a full-time position for Amelia, as she had become such an invaluable member of the team and a true asset to the hotel.
Long is delighted with Shaw’s nomination and told us: “Amelia is hard-working, dedicated, a real team player and always has a smile on her face – a true embodiment of Luton Hoo’s five-star hospitality. It would be brilliant to see her contribution recognised by winning the Purple Umbrella Award.”
The industry specific awards also highlight the great work that hospitality establishments are doing to nurture developing members of the team, showcasing hospitality as a credible career choice and one with great fulfilment and development opportunities.
Winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel on Friday 6 March 2020, such is the popularity of the event it was fully sold out some time ago.
Amelia is one of 12 apprentices at Luton Hoo across a variety of different departments. In the past year the offering has increased to include Food & Beverage and Horticulture apprenticeships, with plans for further expansion in 2020.
