Raising British Game for Hampshire Medical Fund

By James Russell: Raising British Game for Hampshire Medical Fund

November 16, 2019

The Purefoy Arms in Preston Candover, Hampshire, is celebrating Great British Game Week, 25th November – 1st December, with a special ‘Raising the Game’ Menu that will donate 40% of profits to Hampshire Medical Fund.

The 3-course menu is a feast of wild British game sourced by the pub’s local gamekeeper. Great British Game Week encourages people to taste game for the first time and try new produce through various events and offers.

For this special event, The Purefoy Arms has chosen to partner with Hampshire Medical Fund, a local charity which buys cutting-edge medical equipment for Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover hospitals.

Peter Walsh, Head of Fundraising at Hampshire Medical Fund explained to us: “The Hampshire Medical Fund is absolutely delighted to be partnering with The Purefoy Arms for Great British Game Week.

“We admire Gordon Stott’s passion for extolling the virtues of the health benefits of the game on offer on his delicious menu and look forward to nipping down there to sample his wares in late November. We wish Gordon and his team tremendous luck in their endeavours, and in supporting our vital fundraising with their efforts.”

Chef patron, Gordon Stott, comments: “Wild game is often overlooked which is a real shame as not only is it versatile and incredibly delicious, it’s one of the healthiest meats, being both low in fat and cholesterol, high in essential vitamins and Omega-3, and hormone additive- free.

“British Game Week is an opportunity for our guests to try something new. For me, eating out is an experience; a talking-point for people who love food and discovering the story behind the dishes and ingredients. We’re looking forward to sharing this with our guests and helping to raise awareness for Hampshire Medical Fund whose fundraising is essential for our local community.”
