The Chestnut Group has announced the acquisition of The Crown in Stoke-by-Nayland.
The Chestnut Group was set up in 2012 with a vision to champion hospitality in East Anglia. Philip Turner, Founder of The Chestnut Group said, “The Crown fits perfectly within our expanding collection of properties which seek to craft authentic experiences through engaging food and drink, home from home bedrooms and relaxing spaces sewn together with informal and warm service.”
The Crown is a traditional inn with 11 luxurious bedrooms situated in the heart of Constable County, easily reached from London. Recently nominated by the AA as one of the best pubs in Suffolk, The Crown has been operating for 16 years and has developed a fantastic reputation for its food and wine list.
In keeping with Chestnut’s vision for celebrating the best of East Anglia, The Crown sources local produce and drinks where possible and prides itself on the daily fish board menu with five or six fresh fish and seafood dishes. Guests also have the opportunity to sample new and rare wines in the restaurant, with over 30 by the glass from a personally compiled collection of over 250 bins.
Richard Sunderland, previous owner of The Crown commented “It has been a remarkable journey over the last 16 years, and we are extremely proud of all we have achieved with The Crown. The decision to hand the ownership over to The Chestnut Group is a natural one, we look forward to working closely with them in the transition period to ensure the best outcome for our loyal colleagues and fabulous guests.”
