Dakota Hotels has announced plans for rapid UK expansion following completion of its fifth property in the portfolio, Dakota Manchester creating over 120 jobs in the city centre. The new opening marks a major development for Dakota, which has become a popular lifestyle brand in Northern England and Scotland.
As it opens its doors to Manchester the new, purpose-built property is set to be the group’s flagship property, paving the way for several more hotels in the next few years to meet a rising demand for luxury lifestyle options.
A £30m development located close to Piccadilly Train Station, Dakota Manchester has marked a huge step forward in the regeneration of one of Manchester’s historical mill districts, Piccadilly Basin.
The modern, sophisticated hotel breathes new life into the area, housing 137 elegant bedrooms, including 20 luxury suites – the most in the city – a social, upscale dining restaurant Dakota Grill, its signature Champagne Room and an outdoor Cigar Terrace. Dakota Manchester opens with the city’s largest, finest penthouse suite, known as the Grand Deluxe Suite.
Following the highly positive response since announcing the launch of Dakota Manchester, the group recognises an increasing demand for further Dakota properties across the UK. The social and economic value they bring to an area helps to establish them as an integral part of a city’s tourism and leisure strategy.
With the stylish hotel group performing exceptionally well across all its active locations – Glasgow, Edinburgh, Eurocentral and Leeds – the acquisition team is actively looking to identify new sites in priority locations, specifically including Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, M4-corridor, Manchester Airport, Newcastle, Oxford and Central London.
The Group is looking to acquire sites up to 1 acre in size, capable of housing from 130 to 150 bedrooms.
Andrew Ovenstone, Group Operations Director at Dakota Hotels, said: “These are exciting times for Dakota and we look forward to expanding our hotel portfolio across the UK and beyond, bringing luxury lifestyle experiences to destinations that matter most. Our guests are well-travelled and they appreciate and expect the sophisticated, international standard of hospitality that the Dakota brand delivers.
“We are proud of the reputation we have earned across our hotels for first class service and we will remain focused on our culture of making people feel good about making people feel good as we continue to open new hotels in key UK cities.”
