By James Russell: Scott’s on Princes Street to honour the 175th anniversary of the iconic Scott Monument

The Mercure Edinburgh City Princes Street Hotel has renamed their restaurant ‘Scott’s on Princes Street’ to honour the 175th anniversary of the iconic Scott Monument, which overlooks the hotel and restaurant, as well as introducing a locally inspired new menu.

With panoramic views of Edinburgh Castle, the Old Town and indeed the famous Victorian gothic Scott Monument, named after renowned Scottish author Sir Walter Scott, guests can enjoy the best views of the historic city in the modern comfort of Scott’s on Princes Street.

Locals and tourists alike can enjoy the revamped menu, inspired by contemporary local cuisine and classic Scottish delicacies. Menu highlights include Cullen Skink, the Chef’s Signature Scotch Pie, Haggis with Glenmorangie whisky & pepper sauce, Scottish Lamp Rump and Scotch Assured Dry Aged Sirloin Steak. Desserts include Cranachan, a traditional Scottish dish of oatmeal, raspberries, cream, honey & whisky, as well as Steamed Date & Marmalade Pudding or a selection of Scottish cheeses.

Guests can also indulge in a traditional Scottish breakfast or classic Afternoon tea, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients at Scott’s on Princes Street, all with spectacular views over Edinburgh city.

Commenting on the locally inspired development of Scott’s on Princes Street, Cluster General Manager of Scotland for Jupiter Hotels, James Fraser, said, “I am delighted to welcome both long-standing and new guests to the new and improved Scott’s on Princes Street. With one of the best city-centre locations of any hotel and restaurant in Edinburgh, it is really important for us to pay homage to our historic surroundings and provide the very best modern Scottish cuisine in town.”

The Mercure Edinburgh City Princes Street hotel is located in the city centre and is an ideal base to explore the vibrant city. The hotel underwent a major locally-inspired refurbishment last year to unveil refreshed bedrooms and public spaces as well as the bar and brasserie.
