Chef Clément Leroy, executive chef of Michelin starred Mayfair restaurant The Square last week presented two dead ducks to vegan activists protesting in his restaurant.
The vegan activists from Direct Action Everywhere, entered the restaurant protesting with placards reading ‘it’s not food it’s violence’. The protest referred specifically to foie gras, and chef was having none of it, Leroy reacted by offering protestors two dead ducks.
The incident followed several ‘direct action’ protests by the pro-vegan group in London, including marching into a restaurant with ‘meat is murder’ signs, and blocking shoppers’ access to ‘carnivorous foods’ in a supermarket.
