Bermondsey is a neighbourhood in the south of London, and its earliest written appearance is in the Domesday Book of 1086 created for William the Conqueror.
The Domesday Book catalogued the area detailing Bermondsey Abbey, which was founded as a Cluniac priory in 1082, home to monks that kept bees and made honey.
Nine hundred and thirty seven years later, Bermondsey Street Bees founded in 2007 by Dale Gibson and Sarah Wyndham Lewis, is keeping London and Bermondsey’s rich heritage of beekeeping and making honey very much alive.
Recently Michel Roux Jr went along to meet Dale and Sarah to investigate Bermondsey Street Bees. The video below in just under eleven minutes takes viewers through a journey that will enlighten and delight all who enjoy good food.
