A new restaurant at Hudson Yards, New York has been announced by D&D London, its second restaurant in New York. Located in the emerging Hudson Yards neighbourhood the restaurant named queensyard will open in March next year.
The new restaurant will be and open in eleven thousand square feet of space on the fourth floor of The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards. It will feature a Restaurant, Bar, Kitchen, Café and Private Dining Room. The space capitalises on its spectacular views over Thomas Heatherwick’s Vessel staircase structure, The Shed arts centre, and the Hudson River.
Hudson Yards, a new neighbourhood in development on Manhattan’s West Side, will offer an array of luxury retail, work and residential spaces. D&D’s latest restaurant is part of the Hudson Yards dining collection, a high-profile group of approximately two dozen restaurant and food concepts from some of the world’s most exciting chefs, restaurateurs and culinary brands. The hand-selected group features a variety of cuisines and experiences, ranging from fast casual to high end dining; and opening from early morning to late into the evening, catering to the varying needs of the neighbourhood.
Speaking of D&D’s latest opening and further expansion overseas, Chief Executive Des Gunewardena comments: “We are incredibly excited to be opening our second restaurant in New York and becoming part of such a significant new neighbourhood in the city. We think queensyard will offer something for everyone – a sophisticated yet accessible dining and drinking experience with unprecedented views of Manhattan’s skyline”.
Hudson Yards is the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States and the largest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center. The site will include more than eighteen million square feet of commercial and residential space, state-of-the-art office towers, more than one hundred shops including and a collection of restaurants.
Contract caterer rhubarb with a growing portfolio of London restaurant sites has signed for two major eateries at Hudson Yards.
This is rhubarb’s first expansion outside of the UK and CEO P.B. Jacobse said he’s wanted to open in New York for several years. “It’s always been our desire to go to New York,” Jacobse said. “I lived there in the 90’s when I worked at the Waldorf Astoria for five years.”
At Hudson Yards, rhubarb will launch a six thousand square foot restaurant on the fifth level of the Neiman Marcus-anchored Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards mall, which has also drawn eateries run by Thomas Keller, José Andrés, David Chang, Michael Lomonaco and Costas Spiliadis.
The second of rhubarb’s plans is even more ambitious sitting on top of the thirteen hundred foot tall 30 Hudson Yards. The eating-and-drinking spaces will be on the ninety second floor, one story above a five thousand square-foot observation deck that will become New York’s highest outdoor viewing platform.
The Shops & Restaurants eatery is to open in March 2019, while the 30 Hudson Yards complex should open by the end of that year.
