South Kensington Club is delighted to announce the arrival of new General Manager, Ben Swindells. Swindells joins the private members club with a wealth of experience having held a senior position in global hospitality groups, luxury hotels and private members clubs.
After beginning his career with the Hilton Hotels & Resorts group as an Events Manager, Swindells moved to the InterContinental Hotels Group, where he worked in various regional roles as an Operations Support Manager and Operations Manager. In 2012, ahead of the London Olympics, he was tasked with opening the Intercontinental Hotel’s new flagship hotel in the Olympic Park. After a successful opening, Swindells joined the Hoxton hotel, Shoreditch, as Director of Operations, just as they were acquired by the global luxury hospitality developer, Ennismore (now owner of Gleneagles). Here he was responsible for overseeing the full refurbishment of the hotel and assisting in the rebrand of the group, as well as building a new management team.
After gaining this experience in the luxury sector, Swindells went on to launch a new co-working space in Camden, known as LABS (formally known as Interchange Ltd), before taking several other Managerial roles including that of General Manager at the luxury Harbour Hotels Group. In early 2018, Swindells worked with the Ministry of Sound to open The Ministry, a new private members club and co-working space. Having gained this array of experience, Swindells now brings his expertise in hospitality and luxury brands to SKC, where he will be instrumental in enhancing the club’s future development and presence within the luxury market.
