The Gardeners Arms, situated in Baguley, has reopened with a fresh look and feel, following a substantial investment of over £200k from Stockport-based brewers, Robinsons, and licensee John Kelly and partner Sheila Ormsby.
Speaking about the refurbishment, licensee John Kelly said: “Trade has been great since the renovation. The Gardeners Arms has now been brought up to date and transformed into a unique local that caters for all ages. The new look has proven to be popular with the whole community, as we’re attracting a diverse range of new customers whilst retaining our loyal regulars. We wanted to give our customers a pub to really be proud of, and we have definitely achieved that.”
The pub has benefited from a full internal and external overhaul, taking it from a dated community local to a welcoming and modernised venue. The removal of an interior wall has opened up trading space, allowing for improved customer flow throughout. The pub’s new carpeted snug room, with a feature fire place and new fixed dark leather seating, is the perfect spot to sit back and relax with a quiet drink and good company.
The popular local now boasts a stunning new bar – with an improved customer view – showcasing an array of premium lagers, five new gins, wines, and fizz.
Timber wooden flooring has been laid throughout the pub, with the addition of antique brass-finished furniture and loose, fixed and tall seating wrapped in taupe and brown fabrics, adding to an industrial feel. A colour palette of khaki and stone green has been used to create a lighter atmosphere throughout. Feature floral wallpaper blankets focal walls in the pub, adorned with artwork consisting of local historical interest, traditional public house imagery, and a wide selection of historical Robinsons and Unicorn Brewery images.
Externally, the Gardeners Arms has been decked out with new modern signage in line with Robinsons brand guidelines, floral decorations and a planting scheme, together with a new accessible ramp at the front entrance of the pub.
Tony Massey, Business Development Manager for Robinsons Brewery, said: “The Gardeners Arms is a community hub for all, and we wanted to give this iconic pub in the heart of Wythenshawe a new lease of life, to offer customers a better experience overall. The drinks range has been improved and seating and furniture throughout upgraded. There’s lots of great entertainment at the Gardeners, which can now be enjoyed in a more pleasant and comfortable environment.”
