North Brewing Co has announced that it will be opening its first ever city centre tap room in its home town of Leeds. Situated on the corner of Swinegate and Sovereign Street, their new venue is a brief five minutes’ walk from Leeds Train Station and will showcase the very best from the Leeds based brewery alongside British and International craft beers. The 1200 square foot venue will also be the home of local street food heroes, Little Bao Boy, who will be serving up a creative food offering.
Approaching its third birthday, the Leeds based brewery has quickly established itself amongst leading breweries in the UK. After doubling its production capacity in October 2017 the brewery has focused on getting its beer to more people across the UK and globe. This new tap room will allow them to bring more beer to the people of Leeds, all freshly brewed a mere mile away.
The venue will be open seven days a week and act as a hub for the local area from dawn till dusk. First thing they will be serving up freshly brewed Darkwood’s Coffee and breakfast bao before offering an ideal space for meetings and working lunches with readily available Wi-Fi.
With an extensive 24 taps to choose from, the tap room is the perfect place for post-work drinks. From a wide array of craft beer to gin and tonics, to wines, to cocktails. And if that isn’t enough their fridges will be stocked with the latest collaborations and modern classics to drink-in or to take away at a discounted price. The taproom will also be the first to launch the latest new beers from North Brewing Co, freshly packaged only a day before, and will regularly host monthly tap takeovers from up and coming and leading craft breweries within the industry.
John Gyngell, Founder and Director of North Brewing Co says ‘We cannot wait to have a North Brewing Co taproom open seven days a week. Our opening hours at our current brewery tap are restricted by it being a working brewery, so this new space is gives us a real scope to introduce new people to our beers.’
James Ooi, Founder and Director of Little Bao Boy says ‘Working with North Brewing Co in their new city centre taproom is a fantastic opportunity for Little Bao Boy. They have championed us from day one, inviting us to trade at their Eat North street food fair, hold pop ups in their bar, and catering private functions at the brewery. Our baos are freshly steamed, homemade fluffy buns filled with a variety of savoury and sweet flavours. Having a full-time outlet is going to give us the space to develop new dishes, and we can’t wait to get cooking with some North Brewing Co beers!’
The design and build of the tap room is a true collaborative effort, as the brewery has worked with local design workshop Plaey, commercial interior contractors Absolute and their award-winning design agency Refold. The build will begin shortly in October, with the doors looking set to open at the end of November.
