The award-winning cocktail bar Scout, by internationally renowned bartender and consultant Matt Whiley (aka Talented Mr Fox), will be relocating from its Great Eastern Street location in Shoreditch this September and re-opening at a new site in Hackney. The ground floor bar will replicate Scout, whilst the basement will see the launch of a second venue Gold Tooth, which will be a showcase of Matt’s kegged cocktail company.
Scout
The aesthetic and focus of the bar is remaining very much the same – with sustainability and seasonal produce from the British Isles at the heart of the offering. 12 of the current cocktails on the menu will be transferred over, as will some of the ferments, and the drinks list will still include beers and wines.
The new venue on Graham Road will have a slightly larger capacity with 40 covers, and it will also have a kitchen. This will enable Matt and the team to expand the food offering (Scout was awarded Bar Food Menu of the Year at the CLASS Bar Awards 2018) and make it more of a focus alongside the drinks. A former pastry chef from the two Michelin star Hélène Darroze at The Connaught will be joining the team bringing another element to Scout’s expertise and offering.
On the move, Matt comments, “Great Eastern Street has been great for Scout, and it will always be a part of the bar’s story, however the re-location to Hackney allows us to enhance and better our offering even more with a larger space and a fully equipped kitchen.”
Gold Tooth
Launching in the basement underneath Scout, Gold Tooth will be a showcase of Matt’s kegged cocktail company with four cocktails on tap, alongside beer and wine. The bar will also have a strong focus on art, showcasing renowned London-based artist The Rugman’s highly visual illustrative artworks. On the first Thursday of every month the bar will also host gallery evenings on an ongoing basis.
Scout on Great Eastern Street will be closed from Saturday 25th August, the new site in Hackney will be open from Tuesday 11th September.
