The Yorkshire bar and grill’s Yorkshire Picnic to Raise Funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice

By James Russell: The Yorkshire bar and grill’s Yorkshire Picnic to Raise Funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice

August 4, 2018

Guests tucking into a York restaurant’s afternoon tea this month (August) will be helping to raise funds for the region’s only dedicated children’s hospice.

For every Yorkshire Picnic ordered at The Yorkshire bar and grill – located within the DoubleTree by Hilton York on St Maurice’s Road – £1 will be donated to Martin House Children’s Hospice.

In addition, staff will be asking customers if they would like to adopt a mini Marty Bear for a small donation which will also help in funding the charity’s work.

And to help launch the month-long “chari-tea” menu – which is launched on Yorkshire Day – Martin House ambassador and TV presenter, Christine Talbot, joined staff and Martin House Hospice mascot, Marty Bear, to sample the regional fayre.

The Yorkshire picnic consists of a true afternoon tea complete with cheese & chutney and Yorkshire Ham hock sarnies, buns filled with Yorkshire goats cheese and Yorkshire curd tart washed down with a mug of Yorkshire Tea!

All meat served in the Yorkshire Picnic comes from Thirsk-based R&J Yorkshire’s Finest Butchers, whilst all fish is also from local sources; FR Fowler & Son in York and Taylor Seafood.

Graham Usher, The Yorkshire bar and grill general manager, said: “Being The Yorkshire bar and grill, we felt Yorkshire Day is the perfect day to launch our charity Yorkshire Picnic.

“For many years the staff here have been great supporters of Martin House Children’s Hospice, and tens-of-thousands-of-pounds have been raised by guests adopting mini Marty Bears which were placed in bedrooms.

“We hope our charity Yorkshire Picnic will also prove equally popular and raise funds for this wonderful organisation.”
