Jim Gore, DipWSET and Principal of the WSET School London, is leaving the wine education charity to set up his own school.
Jim has established the Global Wine Academy with a sharp focus on helping WSET Diploma Students succeed. Jim’s experience as Principal of the WSET London School, delivering and shaping WSET education, and his expertise as an educator mean that nobody is better placed to help Diploma Students maximise their marks in the tasting exams.
Jim offers revision tasting masterclasses for WSET Diploma Students that are aligned to the three sections of the Diploma – fortified wines, sparkling wines and wines of the world. They are scheduled just ahead of the relevant exam sessions so are perfect for anyone travelling to London for the exams as well as those based in the city.
Jim will also release a model tasting note every week of the year looking at an easily available wine. These will help students and anyone interested in wine to calibrate their palates and perfect their tasting skills.
Jim said: ‘Students are always most anxious about the tasting exams, so we will be helping them prepare to achieve the very best they can. Students began booking the very first day our new website went live, so it seems there is strong demand for the unique support I can offer.
‘I’m looking forward to working with small groups of keen students to explore, analyse and assess eighteen wines in each full-day masterclass. We will be improving tasting skills, sharpening aroma and flavour identification and honing exam technique to maximise marks. The day will give us plenty of time to ensure everyone’s palate is calibrated to the Diploma standard and each student will be able to address areas they find especially challenging or tricky.’
