Kiss the Hippo Coffee now open in Richmond

By James Russell: Kiss the Hippo Coffee now open in Richmond

June 13, 2018

George Street’s newest arrival is a specialty coffee shop complete with an in-house roastery organically certified by the SOIL Association. Here the roasting process is carried out using one of the most environmentally friendly roasting machines ever developed, built-to-order for Kiss the Hippo. The shop also houses a workshop which the Speciality Coffee Association is looking to certify as a ‘Premier Training Campus’.

Paying its own tribute to the town – and strengthening its root in the local community – Kiss the Hippo has christened its first blend, ‘George Street’. Diligently created and consisting of 70% Peruvian and 30% Colombian ethically sourced, organic coffees, it enjoys tasting notes of milk chocolate, almond and cherry.

The coffee shop also offers a simple, nutritious and well-balanced menu of salads, sandwiches and freshly baked goods to eat in or take away. Everything is prepared on site, using ingredients sourced from artisan makers, local producers and family businesses.

Clean and green living is also central to the Kiss the Hippo ethos. As such straws, cups, containers and cutlery are all compostable, whilst the plastic used is both recyclable and recycled.
