The Midland Hotel in Morecambe is holding its third annual Seafood Festival in early July and this year’s event is set to be its biggest yet.
English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues launched the coastal festival event at the art-deco hotel on Morecambe’s waterfront in 2016, and since then it has attracted more and more visitors each year. In 2017, over 3,000 visitors came to the festival.
This year’s festival runs on the weekend of 7 and 8 July 2018 and includes the popular Seafood Sunset Festival on the Saturday night, an informal, relaxed summer barbecue featuring fine local seafood and live entertainment from Keith Mitchell and 5 piece band Vixie.
The venue’s Sun Terrace will again be a focal point for festival visitors. With free entry to the festival from 11am on Sunday 8 July, daytime activities include a Seafood and Farmers market with a wide range of stalls and a series of food preparation demonstrations.
A Pimms and cream tea bar, Laurent Perrier champagne and oyster bar, an artisan gin bar featuring the Midland’s very own new gin, Seahorse No.10, and live entertainment from The Steven Wren Quartet will all add to the festive atmosphere.
Mark Needham from English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, the general manager of the Midland Hotel, explains: “This year’s Seafood Festival will be our biggest and best yet. Last year’s guest numbers comfortably outstripped our inaugural year in 2016 and the signs are that visitor numbers will be higher again for this event in our 10th anniversary year.”
