Dear readers of H&C News,
As a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London I have asked H&C News Publisher, Denis Sheehan, to make available to our industry a Power Point presentation of The Queens Awards for Enterprise, which are awarded annually.
Over my eleven years as a Deputy Lieutenant I am conscious that our industry is not well represented in these awards and, yet we are the second largest employers in the UK.
Our great industry demonstrates hundreds of enterprise successes; however, we do fall behind in sharing these to the wider public.
To make a point, there were 48 Queens Awards for Enterprise winners in Greater London this year, compared to 29 last year. Presentations are at the recipients request and are conducted, in the main, kindly by Representative Deputy Lieutenants on behalf of Her Majesty.
We the Lieutenancy under the direction of The Lord Lieutenant, Sir Ken Olisa have been asked to promote the Awards and, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise team have developed a Stakeholders Toolkit to promote the 2019 round, which can be read and downloaded here.
In addition to key messages, the Toolkit contains a link to promotional resources, such as a presentation, a leaflet, an article and social media graphics. The deadline for applications is 12 September.
I am very hopeful that our industry leaders will make it a year for Hospitality Establishments winning in the 2019 Queens Awards for Enterprise awards.
