Opening on Tuesday 29 May: All day dining, a year round outside terrace, inventive cocktails, Josper grilled steaks, daily catch specials, brunches, impressive wines by the glass and vibrant interiors: The Jones Family Kitchen opens its doors to South Belgravia in the beautifully restored Eccleston Yards in time for the summer sunshine. The Jones Family Kitchen is the new sister restaurant to Shoreditch’s The Jones Family Project. Their all day dining and home away from home spirit fits perfectly within the new London hub for independent business and creative talent.
It’s always been a group effort at Jones Family with founders Duncan and Anna Watts, Amit Joshi and Group Operations Manager, Stephen Godby, all pitching in to create a concept designed to bring a smile to your face. Duncan leads the design at Jones Kitchen and has used vibrant, rich colours throughout the 90-cover restaurant. The windows swing open onto the 60 cover courtyard terrace, an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the streets nearby and the perfect place to while away the hours.
The team in the kitchen will be led by Group Executive Chef Oliver Pollard (ex-SMOKESTAK, Marcus Wareing, Jason Atherton, and Barrafina). Coinciding with the product-led philosophy of Jones Kitchen, Ollie has shaped the menu with the introduction of new producers such as Flying Fish who will provide a daily catch of fish from the West Country. They will make a great addition to The Jones Family’s established group of suppliers headed, of course, by its long-term relationship with The Ginger Pig in North Yorkshire. Ollie, and the team around him, have helped create a collection of menus that seamlessly adapt seven days a week to cater to those who choose Jones Kitchen for brunch, Sunday lunch, pre-theatre, or dinner as their destination for work, leisure, celebration and relaxation.
Dedicated gluten-free and vegan menus sit alongside a la carte, brunch and lunch menus. New cuts of meat such as Barnsley Chops from The Ginger Pig will join the extensive signature Josper Grill Menu. Other new dishes include a daily changing West Country Catch (market fresh fish from Flying Fish’s day-boats in Brixham, Looe, Newlyn & Plymouth) and Spatchcock Poussin prepared with a kimchi rub, new potatoes, rocket and parmesan salad and a spiced mayonnaise. Brown Crab New Potatoes, a new addition to the delicious dedicated Potato Menu sits alongside tasty bar snacks that include Charcoal chicken thighs & Romesco. Plenty of signature favourites will be on both the Shoreditch and Belgravia menus including Ginger Pig Steaks, Triple Chocolate Brownie, Eggs Benedicts (brunch) and Truffle Macaroni Cheese.
On the drinks side, it’s over to co-founder Amit Joshi and General Manager of JFP, Alejandro McIntyre Vera, who together have introduced some unusual and rare producers to both the cocktail and wine list respectively. KI NO TEA, for example, is a limited edition from artisanal Japanese distiller The Kyoto Distillery, who has collaborated with a tea grower and blender to produce an aromatic gin with a flavour profile similar to that of matcha tea. It makes an appearance on the dedicated Gin & Tonic list garnished with White Chocolate & Lime. The Jones Family are strong believers of making cocktails as opposed to just mixing them. Barrel-aged cocktails with ingredients from their own kitchen will sit side-by-side with low-alcohol and wine cocktails like Lean & Green (Seedlip Garden non-alcoholic spirit, watercress, peashoots, lime juice, ginger ale) and La Vie En Rose (house made rose vodka, rosé wine, lemon juice, soda). On the wine side, Jones Kitchen has a comprehensive and intriguing list of wines, including 30 wines by the glass, featuring iconic winemakers from both the old world and new. Orin Swift’s Papillion makes its first appearance on the By The Glass List and for bigger groups and special occasions the range of magnums has been expanded.
The Jones Family Kitchen joins other East London businesses, Barry’s Bootcamp, Tailor Made London, and Tart London’s debut restaurant, Eccleston Place by Tart London in the unused courtyard transformed by Grosvenor Britain & Ireland into an undiscovered oasis of tranquillity. “We are thrilled to be part of the regeneration of this historic area and to be part of Grosvenor’s vision for a destination which showcases and champions creative, independent talent. “ says Duncan Watts.
