Stonegate Pub Company has created a £270,000 bar in seaside town Hove, replacing the Slug and Lettuce format and creating seven new jobs.
‘The George Street Tap’ has reopened ahead of the Easter weekend with a collection of eighteen craft beers, fifteen gins, cocktails and a food menu of sourdough pizzas and tapas. Live sports aired across nine plasma screens, and a mix of retro, traditional and modern entertainment is core to the new offer.

The renovation and reinvention of the old Slug & Lettuce into The George Street Tap is a great leap forward for achieving this and I hope everyone will pop in when they come to visit Hove!”
Designed with ‘craft’ in mind, bare brickwork, tiles, and reclaimed wood are complimented by sophisticated design and complex lighting from neons to copper lampshades. Sliding glass doors fill the width of the building, providing a unique open plan space for the summer.
Crafty cocktail school where bartenders show off their mixology; open mic night; classic movie nights; board games; and sessions with suppliers like Brewdog and Brighton gin just some of the events planned.
