New rum brand CUT is rolling out a premium range of rums this spring following successful trials in selected bars and restaurants.
The CUT RUM range consists of three unique expressions – a spiced, smoked and overproof – which are only infused with natural ingredients.
Produced at Worthy Park distillery in Jamaica, using rums from Trinidad and Jamaica, the products have been developed by a Brighton-based team of drinks industry professionals, including brand ambassador and rum specialist Chris Hare.
The name is derived from the company’s aim to showcase a real, quality rum with no gimmicks
‘There are no pirates. No sea monsters. No pin-up girls, just the best tasting rum for people who know the difference,’ say its creators.
Hare said it took two years to perfect the smoked version, which is made by infusing 40% ABV rum with Arabica coffee beans, tobacco and oak chip smoke.
Cut Smoked, which Hare said had been trialled in smoked cocktails such as Smoky Mary and Smoked Negroni by the Living Ventures Group, is a suggested drinks pairing for smoked and barbecue dishes.
The range also includes Cut Spiced – a 37.5% ABV rum infused with spices, including aniseed, nutmeg, vanilla and coriander seed and Cut Overproof – a 75.5% ABV proof rum designed for use in cocktails and cooking.
