Daniel Lee has recently been appointed as the new Head Chef at multi-award winning Galvin Green Man pub and restaurant near Chelmsford, Essex where he will be working closely with Chef Patron Chris Galvin.

Daniel’s career has seen him working alongside top pedigree chefs and restaurants, including Andrew McConnell from the two-hatted Cutler & Co in Melbourne, Australia.

Danny is also no stranger to the Galvin Brothers style of simple classical technique allied to the finest sourced ingredients. “This I learned from Jeff Galvin when I was working for three years at Michelin-starred Galvin La Chapelle in London. I’m really looking forward to working with the Galvins again and delighting our customers with outstanding food far beyond the normal gastro-pub fare.”

Galvin Green Man is a return home for Essex-born Chris & Jeff Galvin, opening November 2016 in Howe Street near Chelmsford. Set in 1.5 acres of riverside meadow amidst beautiful countryside with the river Chelmer running at the bottom of the gardens, the Green Man is one of the oldest pubs in Essex – dating back 700 years. As an addition to the pub, the Galvin Brothers have added a stunning restaurant boasting panoramic views.

Working with locally sourced seasonal ingredients, the menu concentrates on seasonal dishes of the highest quality and favourite pub classics, while the bar serves craft ales with a strong emphasis on working in partnership with local craft brewers. The Green Man hosts four private dining rooms, for up to 12 guests, each with their own style and created in partnership with local business’ and suppliers in the Chelmsford area. Those rooms are perfect for family gathering, celebrations and business meetings.

Since opening in November 2016, Galvin Green Man has been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand and 2 AA Rosettes. It was crowned ‘Best Pub in Essex’ in April 2017 and went on to scoop the regional award for ‘Best Pub in East of England’ at the National Pub & Bar Awards in May 2017. The Green Man also won ‘Pub of the Year’ by Essex Life Food & Drink Awards.
