St Austell Brewery has appointed a new People Director to its senior management team.
Tamsyn Hawkins brings over 20 years’ experience in the restaurant and retail sectors, across various roles encompassing human resources, operations and talent management. She previously held a similar role at Zizzi Restaurants (Azzurri Group) for over seven years. As the company’s Head of People, Tamsyn was responsible for learning and development, human resources and internal communications.
As part of her new role, Tamsyn will be responsible for ensuring St Austell Brewery has the best people working to deliver and grow the business. She will also oversee the company’s training and development centre which provides a range of courses for those interested in a career in the licensed hospitality industry.
On her appointment, Tamsyn said: “I’m thrilled to be starting in my new role at St Austell Brewery. Being from Cornwall, I’m excited to be joining such a successful and diverse west country organisation. My main focuses will be to develop and attract talented people and deliver effective training across the board. Investing in our people will ensure we are able to grow our business even further and continue to deliver a great service for our customers.”
CEO, James Staughton, added: “We are delighted to welcome Tamsyn to St Austell Brewery. In the pub and hospitality sector, people are at the very heart of our business and so investing in recruitment, training and development is hugely important to us. Tamsyn’s wealth of experience and skills will help ensure St Austell Brewery continues to be a great company to work for.”
St Austell Brewery, which is one of only 28 independent family-owned brewers in the UK, was founded in 1851 and is known to be one of the oldest businesses in Cornwall. The company owns over 180 pubs, inns and hotels across the south west and employs over 1400 people in total. The company committed to investing in a new south west brewery at Bath Ales in early 2017, which is due to open its doors in mid-May.
