Drovers Arms call time gentlemen please…to order your breakfasts!

By James Russell: Drovers Arms call time gentlemen please…to order your breakfasts!

April 22, 2018

A Selby pub is calling “time gentleman please…to order a full grill”, as it adds it a new sitting following customer pressure.

From next Saturday (April 28), The Drovers Arms, an historic coaching inn dating back to the 18th century, will be opening its doors at 9.30am to launch its new breakfast menu.

Since taking over the pub in 2015, owner Graham Usher has changed the emphasis from it being “just another pub” to one that serves up a mixture of traditional, homemade dishes and inspired modern British dishes for the true foodies.

And working with suppliers R&J Butchers and Delifresh, The Drovers’ kitchen brigade has created a menu befitting any breakfast table including options for vegans and those who are gluten intolerant.

Graham said: “Our decision to extend our opening hours and open for breakfast at the weekend has been very much customer driven.

“We are situated in the heart of the village of Skipwith, which is a magnet for tourists visiting Skipwith Common, and near neighbours of a popular caravan and camping site.

“Back in the day when the Drovers was a coaching inn, breakfasts would have been served daily to guests travelling to and from York via horse-drawn coach.

“Since taking over the pub, I’ve been asked time and again if we would consider opening for breakfast. We have taken these comments on board and the team here agrees the time is now right.

“We partner with some fantastic suppliers and this also includes our breakfast ingredients. Our meats are sourced from R&J Butchers, near Ripon and our fresh fruit and vegetables come via Delifresh.

“We are confident this will prove a success, after all who can resist the smell of freshly-found coffee and sizzling bacon?
