Executive Chef of Ocean Restaurant and The Tasting Room at The Atlantic Hotel, Will Holland, will present a segment on Jersey Royals on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen on 28 April 2018.
Experiencing at first hand all the hard work that goes into producing the famous Jersey Royals, from driving the tractor up the cotil to picking this year’s crop, Will learns what makes the island’s much loved new potatoes so special from the farmers at Meadowvale Farm who have been growing them for seven generations since 1841.
Demonstrating his favourite way to cook Jersey Royals, Will prepares a simple dish on an outdoor stove on the headland at The Atlantic Hotel with St Ouen’s Bay as the backdrop. Will’s dish features soft fried duck egg, crushed Jersey Royals, charred asparagus, wild garlic and chorizo. For diners looking to try a Jersey Royals dish at The Atlantic Hotel, the new Tasting Room at Ocean Restaurant has a salt baked Jersey Royal potato on the menu paired with onions, capers and Comte.
