Major Expansion benefits high flying Glasgow Airport Hotel

By James Russell: Major Expansion benefits high flying Glasgow Airport Hotel

March 18, 2018

COURTYARD by Marriott Glasgow Airport has been significantly boosted by a multi-million pound cash injection bringing 56 new bedrooms to meet high demand.

Following a strong first full year in business as the only 4* hotel within the busy airport estate, owner Cairn Group has invested in its continued growth.

The conveniently located property now has a total of 170 bedrooms, inclusive of a new dedicated crew room to be utilised by airline staff.

As well as airline workers, since opening its doors towards the end of 2016 after a high profile conversion and rebrand, the hotel has proven popular with business travellers, holidaymakers flying from or into the airport and those visiting Glasgow, with the city centre just a 15 minute drive away.

These works saw a complete refurbishment of all bedrooms, reception space and conferencing, hospitality and leisure facilities, including a refit of the ground floor and restaurant and bar venue The Bistro.

A fitness centre and business centre have also been introduced following the opening – ideal for corporate guests – and the lobby has welcomed reception pedestals designed to open up engagement opportunities.

Two unique Courtyard by Marriott concepts are represented within the hotel in the ‘GoBoard’ – offering touchscreen technology enabling visitors to view the latest airport arrival and departure information, tourist attractions and more; and ‘The Market’ – providing confectionery and refrigerated convenience products as well as chilled drinks and travel accessories to be enjoyed.

Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow Airport is one of only four Courtyard by Marriott hotels in Scotland, and the first in the UK – and second in Europe – to carry the latest 2.1 Courtyard design.

Kuldeep Badesha, the hotel’s general manager said: “An incredibly strong year of business since launching resulted in the need for additional bedrooms as demand was so high. We’ve been very fortunate to receive further investment which sees us now operating an ultra-modern 170-bedroom property, right by one of the country’s busiest airports.

“With brand new facilities, ample capacity and unrivalled features boosting guest experience which only the Courtyard by Marriott brand is known for, we’re in a fantastic position and certainly on course for a positive 2018 and future growth.”
