GLOBE-TROTTERS can add Newcastle to their travel plans after a city centre hotel unveiled the cheapest rates in the region.
The Albatross youth hostel, at Grainger Street, has long been a popular destination for back-packers keen to explore Tyneside and the surrounding areas.
The venue has 172 beds in dormitories for between 2 and 12 people and visitors can now stay for seven consecutive nights in a 10 or 12 bed dorm.
Along with free Wi-fi, bed linen and breakfast, guests can take advantage of a self-catering kitchen, a games room, Freeview TV, DVD and towel hire, a laundry room and a chill out space in the cellar.
The Albatross, voted Best Youth Hostel in the UK by travel experts Hostel World, also puts an emphasis on safety with CCTV cameras, electronic room keys and a member of staff on duty around the clock.
“People of all ages, from just about every country in the world, are choosing The Albatross for its city centre location and because they know they won’t be faced with hidden charges,” said Atul Malhotra, director of operations for The Albatross’ owner, Malhotra Group plc.
“It is the perfect city centre location for exploring the city or the North East and Northumberland countryside,” he added.
