Celebrating Zest Quest Asia’s 5th Gala Dinner and Awards Evening

By James Russell: Celebrating Zest Quest Asia’s 5th Gala Dinner and Awards Evening

January 23, 2018

Dear Colleagues and Friends in Industry,

Re: Zest Quest Asia Gala Dinner and Awards Night – Monday, 12th February 2018 at 6.45pm

In just under three weeks’ time we will be celebrating Zest Quest Asia’s 5th Gala Dinner and Awards Evening. Many of you will know of this path-breaking competition, i.e. that it is all about making ‘homegrown’ culinary students in Britain wake up to the excitement of Asian cuisine — enough for them to consider classical Asian cooking as a future career and for colleges to one day put the subject on the curriculum. The Asian food sector needs it. The UK hospitality industry will benefit from it.

This year, students from 6 colleges and their tutors are competing for the title of Zest Quest Asia Champions. These are: Colchester Institute, North Hertfordshire College, Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield College, University of West London, and Westminster Kingsway College. They will discover who has won the rigorous cook-offs and knowledge presentation on the night.

We have a few places left, and it would be fantastic if these could be occupied by those like you who work in industry and who can make a real difference in widening the horizons of young people and encouraging them to embrace the opportunities available to them in the colourful palette that is British food today. Inspire them, by being there.

I will be cooking a 4-course dinner and before that there will be a reception with Japanese-inspired canapes by our current champions, University College Birmingham. We have some great news for this year’s dinner, in that ‘wunderkind’ Chef Andrew Wong will be our guest speaker, sharing his thoughts on the importance of Asian cuisine in today’s world, and Chef Ching He Huang will be joining us too.

I do hope you will come to Zest Quest Asia’s big night on Monday, 12th February 2018 at the Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5. Do come and cheer on these fine young students, their tutors, colleges and yes, families. They should make us all proud, and you will be making a difference.

Tickets are £80pp or £700 for a table of 10. If you would like details of how to book your seat just complete the form below and we will be in touch.
