As part of the course, trainees will be assigned mentors in one of Best Western’s independently owned hotels; The Richmond, BW Premier Collection, on Hatton Garden. The budding trainees will be taken through every aspect of the diverse roles within the hotel – from housekeeping, beauty and bartending to reception and accounts work. The candidates will also receive specialist Best Western customer service and Lavazza branded barista training.
The intensive course will include education sessions from a fully-qualified higher education tutor, as well as a brand-new curriculum, designed by the Know Hospitality team, in partnership with HIT Training Ltd – the UK’s expert hospitality training provider.
Trainees will conduct 100 hours on-the-job training and meals will be provided during the course as well as travel expenses. Those wishing to apply must be aged 16 or above, and available from November 6 through to December 6, when the graduation lunch will take place at The Richmond, BW Premier Collection. The aim of the course is to place the individual into work or an apprenticeship in hospitality at the end.
Best Western Great Britain’s Managing Director, Les Asplen, said: ‘This is one of the brilliant examples of how dedicated our members are to championing careers in hospitality. We are continually thinking of new and innovative ways to work closely with our members and industry bodies to find a solution to promoting a positive future for hospitality. Opportunities in hospitality are based on hard work and aptitude, not grades. Working in The Richmond, BW Premier Collection on the fast-track course will give young people a highly prized opportunity to explore the world of hospitality and to find out what it’s really all about.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the outcome of the academy which has good prospects of full-time employment or an apprenticeship in hospitality. I know myself from working my way up in hotels that hospitality offers varied and rewarding careers.”
