New Year’s Eve at Berber & Q:‘Brooklyn to Beirut’

By James Russell: New Year’s Eve at Berber & Q:‘Brooklyn to Beirut’

November 2, 2017

This New Year’s Eve, Berber & Q are opening their doors for a ‘Brooklyn to Beirut’ themed late night party, to celebrate the onset of 2018. Turning tradition on its head, Josh Katz and Mattia Bianchi will be mixing up their menu, going all out with a New York inspired feast with a twist of the Middle East, followed by a live DJ-set and a bar that’s open until the early hours.

The menu for the night will be paired with cocktail tasters created by Bar Manager Danny Varley. Kicking things off, a selection of mezze including Black truffle labneh; Whipped spiced pumpkin; Oysters, burnt onions and chicken dressing, matched with an Oak and sumac vodka shooter. Pink peppercorn pastrami on laffa with a Mini Rye Manhattan cocktail will be followed by a Biber Salcasi Manhattan clam chowder and a Mini Brooklyn G&T. The main feasting course offers a Grilled porterhouse steak to share, with bonemarrow charcoal butter; Za’atar shoestring fries; Caesar Fattoush and not forgetting the drinks – a Spiked apricot ale. Completing the menu, a Baked tahini New York cheesecake with a Riesling punch. A wine list with bottles exclusively from the USA and Lebanon will accompany the menu, as well as a bespoke cocktail list featuring New York classics with Berber flair, including a New York sour with Lebanese wine and a Pomegranate Manhattan.

Once service has wound down, instead of closing the doors, the tables will make way for a dancefloor. Brooklyn themed 90s hip-hop will be lead onto Middle Eastern beats, and after the countdown, Berber & Q’s signature brand of deep underground electronic tunes will be playing until late.

“So much of the inspiration of Berber & Q came from New York with the big BBQ flavours and the ‘lights down’ buzzy dining culture of the bars so I’m excited to put that at the forefront this NYE” says Josh. “I’ve had a lot of fun designing the matching cocktails for Josh’s menu and in true Berber & Q style, they’ll definitely be flowing!” adds Mattia.
