Matthew Balman – LifeCare

LifeCare Residences, the leading retirement village operator, has strengthened its Food & Beverage offering at Battersea Place with the appointment of a new Hospitality and Butler Manager, Matthew Balman, who previously served the Royal Household at Buckingham Palace.

Signalling its commitment to upholding 5* hotel standards at Battersea Place – London’s first fully operational luxury retirement community – LifeCare Residences is spearheading the movement towards a more refined and exclusive retirement offering.

With over 15 years’ experience in the hospitality sector, Matthew has served as both front-of-house and back-of-house in a number of high profile, Michelin starred restaurants.

Today, Matthew joins LifeCare Residences after a four-year tenure at Buckingham Palace, serving the Royal Household as a senior footman.

In his new role, Matthew is responsible for the overall Food & Beverage offering at LifeCare Residences’ Battersea Place retirement community, as well as the Albert Suites – a luxury care facility situated within the development, overseeing every aspect of operations with an unrivalled attention to detail.

With a team of butlers under his leadership, Matthew is responsible for developing and expanding the butler service on offer throughout, and will train up the next generation, imparting the exacting standards learned and applied for the Royal family.

Matthew comments; “For the last decade, I have worked at the most demanding end of the hospitality spectrum, learning from the best and refining my skills. I look forward to harnessing my in-depth understanding of the hospitality industry, as well as working with other members of the team to ensure we deliver a high-quality service, tailored to the unique and personal needs of each resident.

Nigel Sibley, CEO, LifeCare Residences, comments; “This appointment reflects our commitment to investing in our business as we take steps to ensure its future progress and long-term success. Matthew’s experience makes him an invaluable asset to our team, particularly with his background serving the Royal Household at Buckingham Palace. We look forward to working with him as we continue to deliver the highest quality in retirement living that our residents have come to expect from us.”
