Graffiti Spirits Group expands to Birmingham

By James Russell: Graffiti Spirits Group expands to Birmingham

October 11, 2017

Having already played an integral part to Liverpool’s transforming nightlife scene, Graffiti Spirits Group is bringing one its most popular concepts, Slim’s Pork Chop Express to Birmingham. Situated at the hugely popular Ghetto Golf, and launching in October 2017, Slim’s BBQ Express will bring its signature slow cooked BBQ meats to the city’s Custard Factory.

Focusing on slow-smoked meats and secret sauces, Slim’s takes inspiration from the 1986 cult classic film ‘Big Trouble in Little China’ and combines two of the UK’s favourite gastronomies, barbeque and Chinese, for theultimate feasting experience. The Birmingham based Slim’s BBQ Express will feature all kinds of mouth wateringly succulent snacks, from brisket pots and burgers to chicken and waffles, and Slim’s famous Lo Pan Fries. The perfect accompaniment to a game of Ghetto Golf.

Examples from the menu includes:

Brisket sandwich

12-15 hours smoked and finished in a sticky glaze on the BBQ

Chicken and waffles

Harlem classic from the 1900s, choose from sweet, savoury or hot

Lo pan fries

Deep fried salt and pepper siu mai, curry sauce, spring onions, chilli, topped with homemade char sui

and sriracha

Oreo waffles with ice cream

Ghetto Golf is a venue that offers a combination of a seriously twisted 18-hole mini golf experience, with an exceptional cocktail bar and DJs in the Custard Factory. Graffiti and incredible artwork everywhere makes them a must do experience in the Birmingham scene. Slim’s BBQ Express is the latest offering from the Graffiti Spirits Group, an independent restaurant and bar company founded by John Ennis and Matt Farrell, who have both played an integral part to Liverpool’s transforming nightlife over the past seven years.

Co-Founder Matt Farrell has this to say about the expansion to Birmingham.

“We are really excited to expand the brand and team up with Ghetto Golf on this site. We are proud of our restaurants and this brand in particular and welcome the opportunity for the rest of the UK to start trying some of our dishes. The partnership offers us a great window to provide a quality addition to the Birmingham food scene band we hope to continue this collaboration towards more sites in the future.”
