Fresh Lime signs agreement with Malmaison to develop hotel in Bournemouth

By James Russell: Fresh Lime signs agreement with Malmaison to develop hotel in Bournemouth

October 2, 2017

Bespoke property developer, Fresh Lime Developments and iconic lifestyle hotel group, Malmaison Hotel du Vin are delighted to announce that they have today signed an agreement to develop a brand new Malmaison hotel on the prime site of Fresh Lime’s hotel and apartment scheme in Bournemouth.

Planning for this prominent site in Bath Road was obtained in May 2017 for a mixed-use hotel and high quality apartment scheme.  Work is due to begin next year and the development is expected to create over 85 new jobs in the Bournemouth area.

The new Malmaison hotel will offer over 100 stylish bedrooms and stunning suites; it will also bring to Bournemouth the culinary delights of the Chez Mal Bar and Brasserie.  This enticing combination will include a rooftop bar and terrace overlooking the Bournemouth sea front, providing the ideal venue for a unique dining experience.

For those wanting to mix business with pleasure, the hotel will also include the brand’s ground-breaking meeting and events concept, ‘Work + Play’, combining all the benefits of Malmaison’s classic style with high tech systems, private meeting pods and flexible pricing.

In addition, the hotel complex will incorporate a state-of-the-art gym, plus swimming pool and beauty rooms, allowing guests, apartment owners and local residents the opportunity to work off calories and to beautify in true Malmaison style.

Michael Bibring, founding director of FLD said: “We have always wanted to bring an iconic hotel to this important site and they really don’t come much more aspirational than Malmaison with its style panache and unique creativity. The rooms and suites will be simply stunning and the renowned Chez Mal Bar and Brasserie will both be extremely welcome additions to the eclectic food and drink scene in Bournemouth”

Guus Bakker, Chief Executive Office, Malmaison Hotel du Vin added: “Bournemouth is a fantastic destination. The vibrancy of the town means that it is also a perfect location for the Malmaison brand.  We look forward to working closely with all local stakeholders to bring this exciting opportunity to life.”

Demolition of the site in Bath Road is due to start next month (October) and building will commence in early 2018.  The development is expected to take approximately 24 months.
