Five-star expansion continues at Loch Lomond

By James Russell: Five-star expansion continues at Loch Lomond

October 11, 2017

A family’s quest to deliver lochside luxury for visitors and wedding guests is complete after they opened the doors to a unique new £800,000 guest house.

Family-run company The Loch Lomond Guest House and Lodges  first opened its collection of luxury, five-star lodges in late 2015 and now the £1.4million development’s centrepiece, the Loch Lomond Guest House, is complete.

Partners James Carr and Diane Edward secured funding from Allied Irish Bank (GB) in 2015 to realise their dream. James is no stranger to hospitality in the area: his family owns the busy wedding venue The Cruin, which is adjacent to the site.

The core of the four-bedroom guest house is a bespoke, hand-built oak frame. The building is finished with high-quality fixtures and fittings handpicked by Diane, who says she wanted to create a more luxurious offering for the banks of Loch Lomond:

“We’ve designed the guest house, and the lodges, to really blend with and enhance the stunning scenery we’re surrounded by here at Loch Lomond.

“This has been a long-term project that not only offers wedding parties at the Cruin the option of accommodation for their guests, but also provides a luxurious, yet homely option for visitors to the area.

“The encouragement from Allied Irish Bank (GB) has made this long-term project a lot more bearable and really gave us confidence that we had a sound, exciting business plan.”

Alison Kennedy, relationship manager at Allied Irish Bank (GB) said: “As specialists in the hospitality sector, we knew as soon as we visited the site for The Loch Lomond Guest House and Lodges that this was a winner, and a sound investment for the bank.

“James and Diane’s passion for creating a unique offering for Loch Lomond, one that builds on James’s family’s adjacent business and knowledge of the area, made us determined to become part of the project.”

The Loch Lomond Guest House and Lodges can accommodate up to eight people across the guest house’s four bedrooms on a B&B basis, and a further 24 in the eight self-catering lodges. Visit
