By James Russell: Senior team for new Edinburgh hotel unveiled

September 14, 2017

(L-R): Director of Sales Jennifer Campbell, Front Office Manager Michael Fraser, General Manager Will Macpherson, Food & Beverage Manager Floris Grootenboer, Financial Controller Ian Hobart and Reservations Manager Gillian Nightingale

Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh West has unveiled the senior team which is preparing the hotel to welcome its first guests in the coming months.

General Manager Will Macpherson has been joined by a team of nine experienced hospitality managers who will help oversee the launch of the new 160-bedroom modular build hotel – sited on the Heriot Watt University Campus in Edinburgh – as well as ensuring its ongoing success.

The new hotel, located to the west of Edinburgh city centre adjacent to Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre, and only a few miles from Edinburgh airport, will provide much-needed accommodation and meeting space to the city.

Skilled Head Chef, Stewart Campbell – who has worked with IHG for 16 years – and Director of Sales, Jennifer Campbell, who has spent 12 years with Marriott Hotels, are among the recruits.

Between them, the senior team members boast more than 115 years in the hotel industry.

The remaining 50 roles at the hotel are almost filled following an extensive recruitment drive, with just a few opportunities to join the hotel still available.

Will Macpherson, General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh West, said: “I’m thrilled to introduce the team that will welcome our guests to this brand new, unique hotel. They’re a talented group with plenty of experience and enthusiasm, and I think they’ll do a fantastic job leading the rest of the hotel team and giving our guests the best possible experience.

“As we prepare to open, we’ll be focused on getting the hotel ready to welcome its first guests. However, we do still have some roles to fill within the wider team, and would encourage anyone interested to contact us so that we can complete our hotel line up.”
