Manorview Group is a winner at the scottish bar & pub awards

By James Russell: Manorview Group is a winner at the scottish bar & pub awards

September 7, 2017

The Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group picked up a double at the Scottish Bar and Pub Awards.

The Group celebrated as they collected the Bright Signals Social Media Award, for the second year running. And there was also cause for celebration for Adele Montgomery, the General Manager of the Group’s Commercial Hotel in Wishaw, Lanarkshire, as she was inducted into the coveted Hall of Fame

The Scottish Bar & Pub Awards incorporates the Dram Awards and is known as the Oscars of the Scottish licensed trade. The accolades were handed out at a glittering ceremony which was held at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

Collecting the Bright Signals Social Media award was the Manorview Group’s Digital Marketing Manager, Rosy Woollen.

Adele Montgomery, the General Manager of the Commercial Hotel received one of two Hall of Fame Awards given out on the night. Also inducted into the industry’s Hall of Fame was Glasgow-based artist, writer and designer Ranald MacColl, who was recognised for putting his unique stamp on many of Scotland’s best bars, hotels and restaurants.

Adele’s award comes as The Commercial Hotel recently celebrated 10 years as the first hotel to join the Manorview Hotel & Leisure Group’s portfolio. But the General Manager’s history with the hotel goes back even further to the previous owners, and Adele, who lives locally, has worked in the hospitality industry for over 36 years.

When Glasgow-based Steve Graham bought The Commercial Hotel in Wishaw in 2007, it laid the foundations for the company’s portfolio. Now the entire Group boasts a total of 16 licensed trade properties, comprising five pubs, two nightclubs and nine hotels, and a total staff of over 500. Adele was the first person to join the Manorview Group’s payroll.

Adele said, “To be recognised for my contribution to the industry was a big surprise. I turn up for work and keep things running, but I have probably seen and dealt with just about everything. It’s been an entertaining journey, and to be recognised is a great honour.”

Steve Graham, Managing Director, Manorview Hotel & Leisure Group said, “I’m delighted Adele has received this well-deserved recognition. She makes a valuable contribution not only to Manorview, but to the hospitality industry. Adele was the first person on the Manorview payroll, and I’m immensely proud she’s still here, 10 years later. I’m equally delighted to receive the Social Media Award for the second year running. We invest heavily in this side of our business and it’s great to see our efforts being recognised”.

Susan Young, Owner/Editor of The Dram said, “The Hall of Fame recognises people who have made a valuable contribution to their businesses and to the industry. Adele has spent 30 years perfecting her craft and she is a one in a million. She epitomises all that is good and great about the people in the Scottish licensed trade.”
