A Barking restaurant has beaten off competition from national businesses to win a catering contract with Coventry University’s new campus in Dagenham.
Cristina’s restaurant is celebrating securing a two year catering contract to service Coventry University’s new CU London campus.
CU London, based at the grade II listed Civic Centre in Dagenham, is set to open its doors later this month, and Cristina’s will manage catering across the campus.
Andy Ginn, CU London’s Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor, said: “We couldn’t be happier to have partnered with Cristina’s in providing distinctive and exciting catering to our students, staff and guests at our beautiful new facility.
“It’s a perfect match of company values, as their higher quality, lower cost offering is not dissimilar to our goal of providing attainable higher education at CU London.
“We look forward to seeing Cristina’s reach even more happy customers and continue to grow along with us.”
CU London is a modern concept in higher education that is designed to integrate study into the lives of students, offering flexible full and part-time learning options.
The Civic Centre has undergone a £4.5 million revamp which will provide students with state-of-the-art university teaching and learning facilities, as well as generous catering and lounge space.
Cristina’s will offer a range of fresh sandwiches, salads, cakes and hot drinks, as well as a rotating selection of hot dishes for both breakfast and lunch.
Members of the community will also be welcome on campus as the offering is being made available to both students of CU London and to the general public.
Cristina Bumbuc, owner of Cristina’s, said: “This is a truly exciting expansion venture. To be awarded this contract ahead of national competitors is particularly special to us.
“We really look forward to pleasing both students and Dagenham locals with our delicious food and coffee.”
Cristina’s also has future plans to open a pop-up restaurant in the evenings, as well as offer pre-booked evening Christmas dinners during the festive period.
