A date that has been etched into every diary within the hospitality industry, the next Industry Talks from TMRW Project will address the enigma that is the Michelin Guide. Ahead of the Michelin Guide Results 2018 being released, we will ask the question: “is Michelin relevant?”
On Monday 25 September, a panel of top chefs, industry experts and journalists will host an open discussion at Marcus Wareing’s Covent Garden restaurant, Tredwells. The panellists will discuss whether stars are still the aim of the game; whether there are better ways in judging and ranking restaurants; and we’ll explore what a star, (or two, or three) really means. Headed up by TMRW Project’s co-founder, Anna Sulan Masing, has invited the following on to October’s panel:
- Chantelle Nicholson – Chef Patron of Tredwells & Group Ops Director of Marcus Wareing
- Josh Overington – Chef Patron of Le Cochon Aveugle in York
- Adam Coghlan – Editor of Eater London
Together, Anna and the panellists will host a positive, engaged discussion around how we award excellence in this industry and what expectations chefs, restaurateurs, Front of House and guests have around these awards. To be part of the discussion, purchase tickets via Eventbrite for £5 + booking fee. Doors open at 6pm, the discussion begins at 6.30pm followed by a Q&A at 7.15pm.
The programme of Industry Talks provides a space for people to discuss subjects like bullying, the need for a separate ‘Best Female Chef’ award, or in this case, the relevance of Michelin Guides in a constructive, positive and progressive fashion. Anna curates a panel made up of top chefs, industry experts and journalists, who address topics with a healthy appetite, encouraging the wider audience to really engage with an industry that has seen some of the biggest growth and attention in recent years.
