Ei Publican Partnerships’ ‘delight’ as 260-plus pubs make Good Beer Guide 2018

By James Russell: Ei Publican Partnerships’ ‘delight’ as 260-plus pubs make Good Beer Guide 2018

September 14, 2017

More than 260 Ei Publican Partnerships pubs have made the pages of the eagerly-anticipated Good Beer Guide 2018, published annually by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

A total of 263 venues from the country’s largest pub company’s leased and tenanted estate are featured in the guide. They are, according to CAMRA, among ‘4,500 of the best real ale pubs in the UK’. From food-led country inns to town and city centre wet-led community venues, the Ei Publican Partnership listings cover every type of offer and appeal.

From The Dun Cow Inn, in County Durham, to Exeter’s Hour Glass Inn; and from The Westbourne Hotel, Swansea, to Cambridgeshire’s Ye Olde Sun; Ei Publican Partnerships’ inclusions stretch to all points of the compass.

The 45th edition of the authoritative publication also features information on every real ale brewery currently operating, plus their key beers.

Ei Publican Partnerships managing director Nick Light said: “We’re absolutely delighted that 263 of our pubs have been included in what is widely regarded as the UK’s definitive guide to real ale.

“With a growing thirst among the UK’s beer drinkers for real and craft ales, it’s hugely encouraging to see so many of our publicans not only stocking them, but ensuring that they’re served in the very best condition possible.

“As a business, we pride ourselves on offering our publicans the best support and advice we can when it comes to improving cellar management and retail standards so they are able to serve a great pint to their customers every time.”

CAMRA national director Alexander Wright added: “It’s a fantastic achievement for a pub to be listed in the Good Beer Guide. While listings are focused on beer quality, they also take into account the atmosphere, cleanliness and design of a pub.

“The guide is based entirely on personal recommendations made by local CAMRA members and which are voted on and rigorously reviewed by branches and editors. We’re fiercely independent, and never take fees for listings, so to be included in the 2018 edition shows a landlord’s dedication to serving top quality real ale in a great pub setting.

“For a visit to an area of the country I’ve not been to before, the Good Beer Guide is my first choice of reference for great beer.”

Now in its 45th edition, the annual Good Beer Guide was first published in 1974, and is the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide. It is edited by renowned beer writer Roger Protz.
